Watch a movie under the stars — IKEA Houston is sponsoring Screen on the Green Friday, September 24, at Discovery Green. Watch Rushmore (rated R), a cult favorite filmed right in Houston. Trivia contest, cast appearances and more begin at 6:30 p.m. Movie begins at dusk. Discovery Green is located at 1500 McKinney.
Play in Houston museums — It’s the biggest day in the Houston Museum District this weekend! Don’t miss free admission to 17 Houston museums as part of Houston Museum District Day. Get all the details on my original post.
Have a garden party — Enjoy family-friendly fun at Mercer Arboretum & Botanical Gardens this weekend for Garden Faire. The weekend features local artists, live music, kids’ activities, and regional plant societies. Hours are 8 – 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 – 4 p.m. Sunday.
Engage in Houston opera — Sundays in the Park this weekend feature Houston Grand Opera. Introduce your kids to opera on the cheap! The performance begins at 3 p.m. at Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney. Sundays concerts through November.
